Who is the Source of River Kaveri?

Pastimes of Ganesh Chaturthi no.7

To bring water in arid southern part, sage Agastya, with the blessings of Brahma, had got water in his "kamandalam" (the vessel used to hold water for ritual worship) of Shiva. He then went down to south & want to find the ideal point for the river could flow, and reached the hills Kodagu.

He called a little boy (Ganesha in disguise) and asked him to hold the vessel carefully. While he looked good spot. Ganesha, in his wisdom, choose the right place for the origin of the river, and left the "kamandalam" on the ground at that location.

A crow came and sat on the that and when Agastya returned he made the crow flew, he was upset to see water was gushing through the ''Kamandalam" and now that water is known as a sacred river "Kaveri". Arising out of the place now known as Talakaveri. Divinity manifests itself in many forms to help people and the benefits of Kaveri water are appreciated to this day.
